FEMALE COPY (MEMORIZED):

Scene 1

FADE IN:  PATTI is on her cellphone.

PATTI:

(very excited)

So guess who I ran into the other day? Jeff Wood! He looks exactly the same as when we went to school together!

(speaking with amazement)

Turns out, he’s got a place just about 5 minutes from me and belongs to the same gym I do. (pause)

(picking up the excitement again)

… I know, I can’t believe I haven’t run into him before this. … So yeah, we’re gonna get together for coffee or something (pause)  … I know! Who knows?

Scene 2

FADE IN:  PATTI is on her cellphone.  This time, however, she is not so excited.

PATTI:

(very matter of fact)

So guess who I ran into the other day? Jeff Wood! He looks exactly the same as when we went to school together!

(not sure if this is a good or bad thing)

Turns out, he’s got a place just about 5 minutes from me and belongs to the same gym I do. (pause)

(same matter of fact statement)

… I know, I can’t believe I haven’t run into him before this. … So yeah, we’re gonna get together for coffee or something (pause)  … I know! Who knows?

MALE COPY (Two (2) Contrasting MEMORIZED reads of the following):

HANNAH IN OFFICE SETTING. WALKS INTO OFFICE OF HER BOSS (NICK) who is looking at his computer. During the conversation, the boss is very friendly, complimentary, but never takes his eyes or face away from the screen nor does he stop hitting keys from time to time.

HANNAH

Hey Nick. You said you wanted to see me about the conference call with the sales operations managers?

(NICK is looking at screen, talking matter-of-factly. Never looks at HANNAH)

NICK

Yeah … I’m … happy you took care of that this morning. Thanks for doing that … (distracted). … As you know, I had that emergency this morning and had to run. …. Wait a second … (hits key or two) … okay! … Where was I?

HANNAH

You were talking about the conference call

NICK

(still looking at the screen) Right! Keep doing what you’re doing … (still looking at screen) did you need anything else?
