AUDITION SIDES

LIZ

I know what you’re thinking.  It’s going to happen to someone else and not me….am I right? Well, I wish I wasn’t. But it’s not surprising.  Fire is after all the greatest, but least recognized threat to the population…in almost any setting…hands-down. Did you know that fire kills someone every 2 hours 42 seconds… that over a million fires occur every year in the U.S., or that a fire department responds to a fire every 25 seconds?  Probably not.  So why don’t you stick around for a bit and join our group as an observer.

STEVE

Hi. Liz said you might be stopping by.  So I just started doing some research on the characteristics of fire, and these four words keep coming up.  Fast, Dark, Hot and Deadly…so I created a little quiz.  It’s not as fancy as Marissa’s hologram.  But I think it drives the point home. Want to give a try?  (pauses) good.

MARISSA

Pretty cool..right? (addresses camera)  So, my topic area was “Know your Building”. So I took a look at our buildings blueprints last week, with the idea of setting up a demonstration that illustrates the built-in safety features for most steel constructed commercial buildings….and here it is. So Steve, what’s the first thing that really sticks out to you?

HEATHER

Let’s say that a fire started on the 12th floor of our building. We call that the fire floor. Our evacuation plan is like many high rise commercial buildings in that in addition to the fire floor, floors above and below are evacuated to a safe place in the building.  In our case, because of the way our alarm is programmed, a fire on the 12th floor would mean that the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th floors would evacuate to the 9th floor. In some buildings it’s only three floors; which is another reason to know the plan.

Strange Bird – Short Film (2014)

Congratulations to Patrick Clark for nailing the principal role of Simon, a sociopath, in the new short film, Strange Bird.  Strange Bird questions the nature of evil.  Where does it come from? What does it look like? Most importantly, can it be stopped?
